Manel De Aguas

Manel De Aguas is a Catalan photographer who developed fins that allow him to accurately sense weather properties: atmospheric pressure levels, humidity and temperature through a couple of implants at each side of his head.

Manel Muñoz (born 10 October 1996 in Barcelona), artistically known as Manel De Aguas, is a Spanish cyborg artist and transgender activist from Barcelona, best known for his designs and installation of weather sensory fins in his head. 3] The fins, formally known as Weather Fins, allow him to hear changes in atmospheric pressure, humidity and temperature through implants on each side of his head. Depending on the changes he senses, he can predict changes in the weather as well as determine his current altitude.

De Aguas studied contemporary photography in Barcelona and became a resident of the Cyborg Foundation in 2016. In 2017, he co-founded Transpecies Society, an association that gives a voice to people who do not identify as 100% human and raises awareness of the problems they face. The association, based in Barcelona, offers workshops specialising in the design and creation of new senses and organs.

De Aguas has shared his experiences as a cyborg artist, speaking and performing at conferences and festivals in Germany, the UK, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands among others. He also elaborates on this in his podcast "Shaping Business Thinking through Art".
